Daviess Fiscal Court and citizens in attendance at the court’s Thursday night meeting were presented with a tentative list of priorities which may be presented to the Kentucky General Assembly during the next legislative session.

Ride sharing company makes contact after Thursday campaign
An official with the Chamber Young Professionals say an all-day online campaign Thursday aimed at attracting the interest of a ride sharing service such as Uber or Lyft to invest in Owensboro did produce at least some communication with company representatives.

At last week’s Rooster Booster, we heard from Secretary of Kentucky’s Cabinet for Economic Development regarding the project landscape in Kentucky and what communities need to be doing to be ready. We also heard that Daviess County was in the 25th percentile in new projects and announcements in the state of Kentucky.
Brescia celebrates, continues to dream
Last week, our chamber and the Owensboro community celebrated two days in a row with our friends from Brescia University. On Thursday, Brescia was the sponsor of our signature Rooster Booster event. We heard from Brescia alumni Pat Yates, an entrepreneur who has been featured on Shark Tank and now has a contract with DreamWorks Studios. The next day, several hundred-people gathered together to cut a ribbon celebrating Brescia’s Moore Center, a jewel on Frederica Street and Phase I of Brescia’s building renaissance on our community’s major thoroughfare.
