Get On Board is a leadership development program in partnership with the Greater Owensboro Leadership Institute designed exclusively for Chamber Young Professionals (CYP) members who are interested in serving on nonprofit or civic organization boards throughout our community.
Through a four-part educational series, participants will gain the knowledge, confidence, and practical experience needed to become effective board members while connecting with organizations that align with their passions.
Objectives
- Prepare emerging leaders for nonprofit and civic board service.
- Build knowledge of board governance, finance, legal responsibilities, and board dynamics.
- Develop leadership skills, confidence, and practical board experience.
- Connect participants with mentors and local nonprofit and civic organizations.
- Strengthen civic engagement and create pathways for meaningful community leadership.
What to Expect
- Four 90-minute interactive educational sessions
- A mentor from a local nonprofit or civic organization
- Hands-on learning experiences with local organizations
- Opportunities to connect with community leaders and potential board organizations
- A Certificate of Completion upon fulfilling all program requirements

Paid Chamber Young Professionals (CYP) members who are interested in developing their leadership skills and exploring opportunities to serve on nonprofit or civic organization boards.

Access the Get On Board Information and Application Packet. Please submit via email to Director of Talent Programs, Julia Brooks no later than Friday, September 4. Applicants will be notified of their status by Wednesday, September 9.
Please Note: Participation in Get On Board does not guarantee placement on a nonprofit or civic organization board. Participants will, however, gain valuable knowledge, experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities to prepare for future board service.
