One of the Chamber’s most impactful roles for our members and community is advocacy. We understand that small businesses are not always able to hire lobbyists or keep up to date on issues, therefore, we provide that information to them. The Chamber often serves individual members as their liaison to appointed and elected officials from the local level to Frankfort and Capitol Hill.
Community Priorities
The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce leads the Community Priorities process bi-annually with the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation, the City of Owensboro, and the Daviess County Fiscal Court. This process results in a concise list of local projects that each group pledges to work towards together. This process started in the 1990s when Owensboro repeatedly missed opportunities because of a lack of a unified effort.
Projects such as Owensboro Community and Technical College, Natcher Bridge, Advanced Manufacturing Facilities, Highway 165 Interstate Designation, Family Court Judges, Riverport Transportation Upgrades, Airport Upgrades, and Blue Bridge Lighting are examples of successes we have shared because we all worked together.
