Chamber Member of the Week: TrueNorth Treatment Center
TrueNorth Treatment Center, a locally owned and operated mental health and substance use facility, has been serving the Owensboro community since April 2019. Founded by Lauren Morrison and her husband, Dr. Travis Morrison, the couple said the center aims to challenge and redefine traditional mental health services while providing comprehensive care for individuals in the region.
Lauren Morrison said TrueNorth’s journey began after she and her husband spent years working in the mental and behavioral health fields. In addition to the Owensboro location, the center expanded to Central City in April 2022 and is preparing to move into a new building next month.
“We take great pride in serving our area with the individuals we work with,” Lauren Morrison said. “We are fortunate to employ multiple people who have completed our program services. Professionally, our intention is to continue challenging what mental health and substance use services can be.”
TrueNorth offers various services through a team of dually licensed practitioners and professionals. These services include mental health and substance use treatment, individual therapy for all ages, group therapy, medication management, targeted case management, peer support, and NARR-certified recovery housing.
“We also have youth-specific programs,” Morrison said. “Our goal is to connect people with resources that impact all areas of life, helping us better fulfill our mission: engage, educate, support, and motivate.”
As Owensboro natives, Lauren and Dr. Travis Morrison said they understand the growing need for mental health and substance use services in the area. The center takes pride in fostering an environment where both staff and clients can recognize their unique qualities and grow from their experiences.
“Our ultimate goal is to allow everyone — staff and client alike — the opportunity to think for themselves while having a wide array of professionals to learn, process, and grow with,” she said.
