ATHENA Award Luncheon happening next week

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEVV) — The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce and Girls Inc. will again host the annual ATHENA Award program. 

It will take place Tuesday, March 26th starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Owensboro Convention Center. 

Organizers say the event will be the community’s 26th presentation of the award that celebrates the outstanding contributions of professional and business women. 

The ATHENA Award presentation will be made at the end of the program to someone in the community who will be recognized for their excellence in their business or profession, has served the community in a meaningful way, and has assisted women in developing leadership potential. 

This years nominees include: 

  • Carol Adkins, Physical Therapist and Fresh Start for Women Co-Founder
  • Barb Birgy, WBKR Radio Announcer, Promotions Director and Christmas Wish Executive Director
  • Anita Burnette, Interim Superintendent for Owensboro Public Schools
  • Kaye Castlen, Retired Administrator at Valley School
  • Suzanne Craig, Program Manager for Community Access Projects  at Green River District Health Department
  • Christina Dalton, District Social Worker at Daviess County Public Schools
  • Dr. Wanda Figueroa, President and CEO of RiverValley Behavioral Health
  • Jana Beth Francis, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning at Daviess County Public Schools
  • Brionna Greer, CEO at Breaking the Cycle
  • Crashaunya Hartsfield, Owner of Hart and Soul Beverages
  • Kathleen Hayden McFadden, Owner of 3rd Chance Auto
  • Megan Dunn-Jackson, Systems Advocacy Specialist at New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services
  • Rebecca McQueen-Ruark, Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Kentucky Wesleyan College

Approximately 500 people are expected to attend this year’s event.
