Chamber Member of the Week: The Functional Family

Brittany Mattingly, Natalie Addington, and Jamie Durham spent their entire professional careers in healthcare before venturing to create The Functional Family. The three combined their diverse experiences to create a holistic wellness clinic focused on healthier, balanced, and vibrant lives.

“After years in the industry and working together, we saw what was wrong with healthcare – it’s treated more like sick care,” Mattingly said. “The body wants to heal itself. Medicine isn’t always the answer. Our goal is to get everyone off of medicine if possible.”

Addington said medicine has its place, expressly to relieve symptoms, but the trio’s ultimate goal is to determine the root cause for the illnesses and treat that specifically.

“All of our plans are individualized and designed to meet people where they are,” Addington said. “Some people have no idea what it means to approach things naturally, so we guide them along the way.”

The Functional Family offers weight loss, IV therapy, iridology, general wellness and detox, functional medicine, medical, vitamin injections, and labs. They also provide naturopathic medicine, hormone treatments, pediatrics, and Reiki – a non-invasive, holistic technique for energy healing.

The team utilizes a specialized approach. Mattingly and Durham are nurse practitioners, while Adingtong is a master iridologist and health coach.

They opened the clinic last February and have been overwhelmed by the community’s support.

“We’ve been very well-received by the community and grown massively over the past year,” Durham said. “We’re down to earth, and people are comfortable with us. Several patients get emotional because of how much we listen to them.”

She said that attention to detail and their successful protocols have led patients to spread the word. That marketing strategy has been enough to incite monumental growth.

“We don’t force our families to vaccinate – we have options here,” Mattingly said. “We strive to teach and educate clients about the body and how it heals itself. It’s all about balance and learning what’s in your food, medicines, lotions, and more.”

She added that the clinic focuses on health at the cellular level, offering metal detox tests that focus on five genes. All 3 said they’re passionate about women’s health and hormones and offer telehealth.
