Chamber Member of the Week: Wesleyan Medical Complex

Wesleyan Medical Complex encompasses three separate clinics: Wesleyan Medical Practice, Wesleyan Urgent Care, and Sublime Skin. The three clinics have varying storylines, all operating under one mission: providing an excellent place for patients to receive care and a team to work.
The mission and the complex are the brainchild of Dr. Sara Doolin-Thompson, an Owensboro native and Kentucky Wesleyan College alumnus. Thompson worked between two and three locations during the pandemic and looked for ways to serve her patient population better.
“I was beginning my days in the KWC administration building around 4:30 a.m. and getting that clinic started for the day, seeing the student body and faculty for minor illness and health issues,” Thompson said. “Then, around 8 a.m., I would travel across town and see my patients in another clinic.”
Wesleyan Medical Practice opened its doors in June 2022, with Wesleyan Urgent Care opening just two months later to KWC students, faculty, and the general public. She created Sublime Skin – a medical spa addressing aesthetic goals for women in men – in Hawaii in 2010, later transferring the business when she returned home.
“When I had the opportunity to open up all of the clinics in one location closer to KWC so the students wouldn’t have to drive to receive health care, I was in,” she said. “Kentucky Wesleyan College is my alma mater and where I started my professional career, so it is very rewarding to be able to give back to the community and college that raised me.”
Thompson is approaching 40 years in the healthcare profession. She has traveled worldwide, providing healthcare to patients in many different countries and from diverse backgrounds.
