Chamber Member of the Week: Aflac, Jennifer Keller

The American Life Assurance Company of Columbus, commonly referred to by its acronym Aflac, has served the American people since 1955. Locally, Jennifer and Garett Keller have changed the face of Aflac, reimagining how insurance looks and feels.

With more than 28 years of combined experience and a passion for educating and protecting people, the Kellers have established and grown a local brand for communities across western Kentucky, southern Indiana, and Tennessee.

Jennifer Keller said they are true partners inside and outside their business and have taken significant risks to grow their organization.

“We continue to pour into our team and the communities we serve,” she said. “We are forever grateful for the opportunity we have each and every day and look forward to continuing to build a team that makes a difference.”

Keller cited a Harvard study indicating that more than 60% of all bankruptcies in the U.S. are from medical bills. She said 75% of those people had health insurance, but nothing like what Aflac offers – something to protect their ability to provide and overcome their loss of income.

She said most people associate insurance with a huge price tag, but Aflac costs as much as a cup of coffee.

“No one wants more insurance; believe me, we see it every day, but when people take the time to be educated by one of our team members, they find that our policies are very affordable,” Keller said. “It’s all about education and an open mind. Skip the drive-thru at Starbucks, pass on the energy drink once a week, and you can afford to protect your income.”

The local Aflac also provides business solutions support with the ultimate goal of positioning business owners to be their best. She’s confident businesses can attract and retain the best employees with one of their business policies.

“Employers are facing many uphill battles, and the Kellers are standing strong in that they do and how it helps businesses and their employees,” she said. “Employees are looking for freedom in choice and benefits that fit their particular needs, not the old-school, one size fits all.”

Aflac exists to protect and provide peace of mind, and the Kellers are proud of how they support businesses with education, culture, and development.

“Benefits are the secret sauce and the gateway to growth for businesses in today’s world,” Keller said. “We partner with the business and/or their broker to add a benefit that drives morale while keeping costs down.”
