Chamber Member of the Week: Retirement and Financial Strategies

With more than two decades of experience as a financial advisor, Jerry Goetz opened Retirement and Financial Strategies in 2018. Goetz and his dedicated team of financial advisors operate through Private Advisor Group – a registered investment advisor – and offer a wide array of financial services.

Goetz traces his beginnings in the industry back to 1999, when he diligently studied the trade before incorporating his business in 2004 with a group of independent advisor partners. Eager to expand his business vision, he left the group to build the new location at 3402 Frederica Street.

“Through our partnership with Private Advisor Group, we manage investments for clients on a fee-only, no-commission basis,” Goetz said. “We offer full-scale retirement and financial planning services.”

The company also offers life and long-term care insurance separate from the investment advisor business. Goetz and his team serve over 250 households and more than $170 million in assets for those clients.

He attributes this exponential success to his company’s growth mindset and commitment to balance.

“I believe maintaining a positive mental attitude, taking persistent action, learning from mistakes and successes, and maintaining gratitude for the gifts and talents one is given presents individuals the power to pursue dreams and goals,” Goetz said. “Balance in life is essential. I strive to grow continuously in my life physically, mentally, financially, and spiritually.”

Goetz added that the Owensboro community had played a pivotal role in the office’s success, and he’s grateful for the continued support. Retirement and Financial Strategies displays its commitment to the community through countless partnerships with local nonprofit organizations.

Retirement and Financial Strategies is a decade donor for Puzzle Pieces and plans to sponsor a new local nonprofit each year. The organization is also a recurring member of the local chamber of commerce.

“We intend to continue to be an important contributor to the local community by providing excellent service to clients and remaining supportive of local organizations and nonprofits,” Goetz said.

Earlier this year, Emma Goetz joined the firm as a financial advisor, bringing some youth and vitality to pair with her wealth of knowledge. Emma recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Finance and a concentration in Personal Financial Planning.

Emma is also an active Chamber Young Professionals group member and intends to volunteer for additional community roles. While Goetz specializes in helping retired or transitioning clients, Emma possesses the skills and knowledge to assist pre-retirement generations.

“Adding Emma positions Retirement and Financial Strategies to serve clients for years to come,” Goetz said. “The result is a great team effort in offering top-level advice and service to all generations.”

Through proper planning and careful analysis, Goetz’s seasoned approach has been helping clients build solid financial and retirement strategies customized to their needs. Through both negative and positive market periods, he uses a comprehensive package of academic knowledge and real-world experiences to assist clients in developing a custom plan of action.
