Chamber Member of the Week: Evergreen Lawn Care, Weed Man, Mosquito Joe
Weed Man, Evergreen Lawn Care, and Mosquito Joe operate under one umbrella as a full-service lawn care company.
The businesses trace their roots back to 1984, when Jim West founded Evergreen Lawn Care in Owensboro.
West’s “always say yes” mentality afforded the business many opportunities to expand — most notably the addition of landscaping, tree, and shrub trimming, and snow removal. That same mentality encouraged West to begin offering services such as excavation and irrigation, outdoor lighting, hardscaping, and creating outdoor living spaces.
Along with his business partner Rick Ebelhar, Todd West joined his father’s efforts in 2003 and opened Weed Man of Owensboro. The two quickly expanded the business — opening locations in Bowling Green, Paducah, Evansville, and most recently Southern Illinois.
“Weed Man is a locally owned franchise that provides environmentally responsible fertilization, weed control, and pest management services,” said social media and marketing director Chelsea Howard. “Evergreen and Weed Man continue to be the trusted names in creating and caring for outdoor spaces of any size and scale.”
Todd West purchased Evergreen Lawn Care in 2018 from his father, who remains active in the company. Both Wests and the organization as a whole are proud to call Owensboro home.
“We wouldn’t be where we are today without the wonderful support from our community,” Howard said. “Because of this support and our amazing customers, who year after year trust us with the care of their lawn, we are able to give back to our community.”
Howard also expressed a great deal of appreciation to the local chamber of commerce.
“The city of Owensboro, as well as the Chamber, have been very supportive from the beginning,” she said. “You can tell they truly want to see local businesses succeed. We are proud to call Owensboro home.”
