Chamber Member of the Week: Willow and Pine Market

Willow and Pine Market in downtown Owensboro offers gifts for all occasions, expanding its kitchen area to include gourmet food items. They’ve also converted the shop into a festive holiday market, offering a wide array of Christmas items at 30-40% discount.

Kansas native Anne Higgins opened the market in May of 2020, during unprecedented times. Despite the many challenges posed by the pandemic, Willow and Pine has continued to grow and evolve, transforming into a haven for all types of gifts.

“As always, we want Willow and Pine Market to be a place of joy for our customers,” Higgins said. “The best part of our day is helping customers select the perfect gift or find something beautiful to brighten their home or table.”

Higgins brought her midwestern values to Owensboro more than two decades ago and refers to the adjustment as an easy one. Much like her hometown, she said Owensboro offers a sense of connectedness with friends and family.

“Family is important. Family dinners as a child are something I’ll always remember,” she said. “Our city does an excellent job of building up families, and I think that all starts at the dinner table. I believe that dinnerware can elevate those experiences at the dinner table.”

From gourmet olive oils and balsamic vinegars from TN Southern Olive to cocktail infusion kits, the options are endless. The store also boasts an assortment of casual dinnerware, cooking and baking items, linens, and more.

“We have added a variety of cocktail infusion kits to our bar area, which has been very popular, especially during the holiday season,” she said. “We’ve also grown our Polish Pottery section to more than 2,500 pieces in stock, including a beautiful selection of dinnerware.”

Polish Pottery is bright and colorful stoneware that catches the eye of every customer that enters the store. The stoneware is hand-painted and hand-stamped by artists in Poland and is both durable and practical.

“People love it because it’s oven and dishwasher-safe and very bright,” she said. “Others treat it as a collection item and purchase it for display. We keep a list at the store so customers can have a wishlist. It comes in thousands of patterns and hundreds of shapes so people can always add to their collection.”

Willow and Pine continues to offer wedding and gift registries. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The store will open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve and offer a semi-annual clearance sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
