Chamber Member of the Week: Fast Lane Auto Repair

Fast Lane Auto Repair is approaching seven years of business, citing customer service and honesty as the key to their success. The full-service auto mechanic operates as the only gold Napa Auto Repair Center in the area and has evolved drastically since its inception.

Owner Tony Lane started the business in 2015 after spending 31 years in the same field at a local dealership. Approaching 40 years in the industry, he said he’s formed many great relationships with customers by simply being honest with them and not trying to “oversell.”

“I had a huge following, and several of them followed me when I ventured out on my own,” he said. “A lot of shops want to sell maintenance and stuff that cars don’t need; we don’t do that. We treat our customers like we would if it was our family’s car.”

When Lane first purchased the shop on the 2000 block of Triplett Street, it was only him, a couple of employees, and six service bays. After buying the lot and structure next door and remodeling both buildings, Fast Lane now boasts a 12-bay facility with a growing workforce.

“We do everything from oil changes and tires to new motors and transmissions,” Lane said. “We have a great group of guys that work here; they are truly top quality. We even have a waiting list of people wanting to work here.”

There are not many vehicles they won’t work on, and their Napa certification guarantees clients a 3-year, 36,000-mile parts and labor warranty nationwide. They are also a Jasper Engines preferred installer, and their current efforts include installing one of those engines into a 1948 Chevrolet Truck.

Lane said customers are always raving about how fast he and his crew can complete a job, citing that and a play on words with his last name as the basis for the business name. He said on a good day, they’re able to service upwards of 30 vehicles.

“We try to get cars out the same day if possible, and people have grown to trust that,” he said. “The community has been great to us; we have many loyal customers. We also have people that come from as far as Henderson to have their vehicles serviced.”

To be crowned gold by Napa Auto Parts, shops must maintain a Google ranking of above a 4.7 average at all times and have ASE-certified technicians on site.

“Napa goes through a real strong vetting process. It took us about 6 months to get through the process,” he said. “Our facility also had to have a certain look; they helped us with paint colors to get it looking like a Napa shop.”
