During ROMP, there’s no place like home

This week, people from all over the world will descend on Owensboro to experience ROMP, the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum’s River of Music Party held at Yellow Creek Park. Hotels are booked, ticket sales are climbing and there is a buzz about the lineup.

It is a great time too for us to show off our community … for businesses to welcome ROMP fans on the marquees, to play bluegrass in their place of music, to have fun celebrating this week of the year.

It is also a time where we can be thinking of funs thing to do here, local restaurants and bars for recommendations, your top five list, in case you happen to run into a visitor. And chances are, you will have that opportunity beginning Tuesday or Wednesday.

Our Chamber staff enjoys meeting people from all over the world who make the trip. We know how well we stack up internationally with our local music scene, such as Brand USA naming us one of the top 10 music destinations in the United States … and its 6 million-plus video views.

We know that our hospitality infrastructure is growing and continues to be top notch. And our hotel staff and servers at local restaurants go out of their way to make people feel welcomed.

This is a week to celebrate. Let’s celebrate how far we have come with this music genre, how beautiful our park system is here and how we continue to find ways to show people that there is no place like home — if home is OBKY.
