Chamber of Commerce holding ‘Shop Owensboro’ event this weekend
OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) – It’s not long after those Thanksgiving leftovers are stored away that people start knocking out those Christmas lists, and the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce is hoping people will take advantage of Small Business Saturday.
The Chamber is giving out Shop Owensboro green bags on Saturday, November 27.
The drive-thru pick-up line will be located at the Convention Center from 9 to 10 a.m. Bags are limited to the first 500 shoppers.
Chamber President Candance Brake says every dollar people spend locally will turn over between three and five times in the community.
“These are the people who have really innovated since [COVID-19] has started,” Brake said. “They’ve dealt with shutdowns and regulations, and it’s our job as neighbors and community members to give back to small businesses that have really kept going.”
Bags will be filled with coupons and prizes for dozens of local businesses throughout Owensboro. Shop Owensboro Bingo cards will also be placed in the bags.
Due to last year’s success, the Shop Owensboro event will extend a full week.
Shoppers can have their Bingo cards stamped with each purchase they make at a participating business located on the card.
The Chamber says “Bingo or not, we want to see all the places shoppers supported, so make sure to ask for those stamps at every register! Purchases made online through local retails or through curbside pick-up, delivery or drive-thru can provide proof of purchase in lieu of a stamp.”
Shoppers can turn the Bingo cards in at the Chamber Office at 200 East Third Street by Friday, December 10 at noon for a chance to win one of our two grand prizes – a $250 gift.
