Farm City Breakfast returns Saturday, Quarles to be guest speaker

The annual Farm City Breakfast will return to Daviess County High School this Saturday and will feature guest speaker Ryan Quarles. The event is a long-standing tradition that celebrates the Daviess County agriculture economy and its partnership with the community.

The program will begin at 7:30 a.m. and is held annually at Daviess County High School.

Quarles is the president of the Kentucky Community & Technical College System and is the state’s former Commissioner of Agriculture.

The annual breakfast is presented by the Daviess County Farm Bureau and the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce. This is the 44th year for the event, which typically features a panel of several community members as speakers.

Each year the program also includes the presentation of the Humanitarian Award, which recognizes an outstanding leader whose life of service improved the well-being of citizens throughout Owensboro and Daviess County. Last year, lifelong farmer Dustin Warren, who is also a volunteer firefighter, received the award for his dedication to helping anyone in need. In 2022, 10 area farms were presented with the award for helping to harvest the Sparks family crop following the passing of David Sparks.
