Chamber Member of the Week: Kentucky Farm Bureau – Gavin Roberts

Gavin Roberts began with Kentucky Farm Bureau in 2001 as an agent under Dan Turley, opening his own agency just 7 years later. Since 2008, the agency has grown exponentially, adding Alex Bryant to the team in 2014 and Mandy Hicks in 2020.

Roberts attributes the agency’s success to its commitment to the community, stressing that he, Bryant, and Hicks are all Owensboro natives and care deeply about their hometown. He said they’re also surrounded by a fantastic team of Bobbi Peach, Samantha Boles, Maleah Nunez, Joey Tichenor, Danielle Ray, Abbe Quisenberry, Molly Roberts, and Chase Luckett.

“We’ve all been blessed to have this opportunity to serve the Farm Bureau members, and it’s important to us to give back to the community,” Roberts said. “We’ve grown our membership out of this office every year, and I think our biggest compliment is our current members referring business to us.”

Roberts added that service is their forte, going above and beyond to care for their customers. While the team excels at educating members and laying the groundwork for success with their policies, he said their service mindset is on full display when handling claims. He contributes this to the dedicated and skilled members of the KYFB Claims Team.

“We are Johnny on the spot when it comes to taking care of our customers, and we shine the most when paying out our claims because we take such good care of our members,” he said. “During a claim situation, we are all hands on deck, and everyone in this office is eager and willing to take care of our members.”

Farm Bureau’s efficiency, attention to detail, and willingness to go the extra mile are extensions of its company executives. Roberts said the company’s chief officers were some of the responders to the recent western Kentucky tornado, writing checks to ensure no one went without necessities.

“We’re nimble and can react quickly,” he said. “We’re not waiting for someone from a different state or region to come in. We rescue each other. We take care of each other.”

Bryant said Kentucky Farm Bureau is one of the few agencies that sells insurance in the county and state 100% from Kentucky. Simply put, the underwriting, claim services, and more are all performed in the Commonwealth.

“Beyond making a living in this community, it’s taking the resources we’re extended from our members and spreading them across the community,” Bryant said. “Our flexibility in our schedules allows us to go to schools and nonprofits and give during regular business hours or over the weekend. We’re striving to serve the community as a whole.”

Hicks accentuated the agency’s efforts to embrace a hometown approach. Like the team, she embodies the community approach and takes pride in serving her neighbors.

“When you grow up here, not only do you see the positives, but also the areas where we can do better,” Hicks said. “Now, I’m in a position to give back and make Owensboro a place where future generations and my kids will want to grow up – that’s what I’m striving for.”

Kentucky Farm Bureau – Gavin Roberts specializes in both commercial and personal insurance. Typical policies include auto, boat, church, earthquake, farm, flood, health, home, life, mobile home, motorcycle, umbrella, and more.
