Job Summary:
This position is the Simulation Education Specialist for HealthForce Kentucky in collaboration with Owensboro Community and Technical College. This position will oversee the standardized participant program and assist with the day-to-day operations of the education team. This position interfaces with content experts/faculty to develop lifelike simulation-based training experiences. This individual will be responsible for ensuring simulation standards are upheld and working collaboratively with educators to get the most out of the equipment, simulated patient encounters, and train individuals to protray a wide variety of patient and family situations. Position is grant funded and continuation is contingent upon future funding.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
The duties / responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
•Coordinate and implement standardized participant program for the program including recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating standardized participants.
•Recruit and train a talent pool sufficient to meet program demands.
•Coordinate implementation of standardized participant encounters, digital audio/video recordings, student briefings, debriefings, evaluation of standardized participants, performances, and checklists.
•Coordinate schedules, training classes, workshops, presentations, and quality assurance; provide customer support as appropriate.
•Manage audio/visual recordings for all events, schedule recording sessions, troubleshoots issues with A/V system, track status of recordings during testing events.
•Coordinate and support use of AV software.
•Maintain timecards and provide SPs support, monitoring, and approving monthly time and invoices.
•Design, develop, modify, and maintain instructor-led and/or standardized participant-based training classes, workshops, and presentations in alignment with SP program mandates.
•Create, modify and/or maintain training materials, resources and presentations related to education of health professions via standardized participant simulations, skills labs, and other HealthForce educational programs with approval from HealthForce administration.
•Work cooperatively and collaboratively with the team to keep the program moving forward.
•Maintain the assign physical space and supplies, as assigned per location.
•Collaborate with faculty training of standardized participants to specific cases for performance; collaborate with faculty and staff for planning of standardized participant.
•Some travel may be necessary with occasional overnights as needed to meet program goals.
Additional Requirements:
•Maintain ongoing professional development and remain current in standards of best practice.
•Provide technical assistance, support, and training to faculty and staff in the use of simulation methodologies and equipment.
•Maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment, curriculum, operations, and services.
•Coordinate with the Directors to engage academic, community, and practice partnerships as they relate to the program.
•Maintain a variety of records related to simulation events.
•Collect and interpret data related to learning outcomes for simulation exercises.
•Collaborate with faculty/staff educators on disseminating findings.
•Ability to utilize appropriate and effective communication skills when working with others.
•Must possess excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
•This position will work with age groups across the lifespan.
•Skilled in or the ability to learn how to use databases and simulation equipment.
•Work may be required outside of the usual working hours.
•The job may resemble clinical work occasionally and lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or education, and six (6) years of relevant work experience.
OR
•Associate’s degree in healthcare or education, and eight (8) years of relevant work experience.
•Active Allied Health licensure is preferred.
•Prior experience in delivering simulation is preferred.
•Prior experience and certification in patient care is preferred.
•Certified Health Simulations Educator (CHSE) is preferred.
