Chapter One Marketing may have started as a one-man operation in a bedroom, but it has quickly grown into a five-person agency helping businesses across Owensboro find their voice — and their customers.
Founded in late 2022 by Tyler Mayfield, Chapter One Marketing has evolved through key partnerships and an expanding service list. Mayfield, who spent years working in and out of the marketing industry, said he saw a gap in how agencies connected with clients.
“I had a vision to build something different in comparison to traditional marketing companies,” Mayfield said.
In 2024, that vision took its next step when David Hillard, owner of Hosiva Solutions, merged his web and IT company into Chapter One. The expansion continued in early 2025 with the addition of Monica Montgomery, owner of M2 Productions, as a partner and media director.
The agency now operates from its own office with a small but growing team focused on supporting small to medium-sized businesses through branding, digital content, and strategy.
“We break our services down into four pillars: Foundation, Content, Growth and Upkeep,” Mayfield said. “Our focus areas include logo design and branding, website development, photo and video production, social media management, and digital advertising — but we do a lot more.”
That includes print materials, SEO, event planning, customer outreach, and web maintenance. The team’s goal is to be a single point of contact for all marketing needs.
“What sets us apart is that we’re not just a group of contractors hired to do a job,” Mayfield said. “We’re a marketing partner that gets invested in your company’s growth. Your success is our success.”
Mayfield said the company is deeply rooted in Owensboro, where he was born and raised.
“We try to take part in any aspects that we can, especially working with several non-profits to give back to the city we all love,” he said. “As we’ve grown, it’s allowed me more time to get involved in the Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Young Professionals, and other community events.”
Chapter One Marketing also collaborates with other local businesses like Wonder Boy Media and The Scrub Shoppe to support client needs.

“Even if they don’t become a customer, they’ll walk away with something valuable,” Mayfield said. “At the end of the day, if we’re not making you more money, why the heck are we doing it?”
