Watson, Mattingly to give ‘State of Community’ addresses Thursday

Owensboro Mayor Tom Watson and Daviess County Judge-Executive Al Mattingly will give their annual “State of the Community” addresses Thursday during the Rooster Booster breakfast at the Owensboro Convention Center.

Mattingly’s — giving his last State of the County since he’s not seeking reelection — plans to take a reflective approach to his speech.

He will touch on how the community has grown during his 11 years of service in his role, then discuss how he hopes to see the county grow over the next 10 years.

Watson will be giving a State of the City speech for the 10th time. He plans to cover a variety of topics including finance, the success of the city’s departments, and the funding spent over the last year.

He also plans to cover transportation issues, Green River joining the Bourbon Trail, Big River arriving downtown, and several other topics.

The breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. Those wishing to attend need to register here.
