Networking Opportunities
The monthly Rooster Booster Breakfast has a 40+ year history and attracts more than 250 Chamber members and community leaders each month. Each breakfast features a guest speaker and is great opportunity for networking and promoting your business. It is also an informative program that keeps Chamber members up-to-date on what’s happening in our community.
Business After Hours is just what is says—an opportunity to meet people in a relaxed setting after 5 p.m. Events are held each month at a Chamber member’s site. Refreshments and finger foods are typically served.
The Chamber Ambassadors help new members and/or members with new locations or who expand their business with a ceremonial Ribbon Cutting. Ribbon cuttings are a good way for members to “show off” their business and a good opportunity for members to talk about their products or services to new members.
The Chamber’s Annual Dinner is held at the beginning of the year to talk about the past year’s accomplishments and outline the new Plan of Work. It is the Chamber’s most prestigious event with a renowned guest speaker and lots of hoopla.
The annual Farm City Breakfast provides an opportunity for city and county residents to come together to share and learn more about their respective businesses. Presentations highlight business practices of both the agricultural and urban community. The Farm City Breakfast is attended by 300+ people each year.
Leadership Owensboro is an annual community leadership program targeting those with leadership potential and/or experience who desire to have an increased understanding of, and participation in the community. The group meets monthly from September through May for day-long sessions on topics like government; education; justice; human needs and services; health; economy; media; arts; and cultural diversity. The program’s charter class graduated in 1982. Participation is by application process. Thirty participants representing a broad cross-section of the community are selected each year. Applications are available in May for the upcoming year’s class.
The Chamber’s annual Golf Classic is a popular event that draws a full field for a day of fun and prizes. Held each summer at the Owensboro Country Club or Summit golf course, the event is one of the Chamber’s primary fundraisers. Participants agree that the Golf Classic is also a great way to meet new people in a relaxing and fun atmosphere.
Each year, the Chamber partners with Girls Inc. to honor a one person with the ATHENA Award. The award recognizes an individual for business or professional accomplishments, for their community service, for mentoring others, and providing role models for others to achieve their full leadership potential.
