July Rooster Booster and Wellness Fair offer something for everyone

This Thursday, our community has an opportunity to learn about critical issues facing the Commonwealth and to gain exposure to health services offered by our Chamber Members.

This Thursday, our community has an opportunity to learn about critical issues facing the Commonwealth and to gain exposure to health services offered by our Chamber Members.

Our Rooster Booster, sponsored by Hospice of Western Kentucky, will feature our state Senator Joe Bowen as the speaker. Senator Bowen will discuss our state’s pension system and where we are headed. The pension issue impacts nearly every element of our Commonwealth’s competitiveness and well being for the future.

Senator Bowen has worked tirelessly to address this issue. He is very committed to finding an outcome that is supportive toward public employees while being fiscally responsible for Kentucky’s future generations.

After our Rooster Booster, we will have the opportunity to focus our attention on our health.

A focus on wellness is good for all businesses, big and small. We have the opportunity to partner with Owensboro Health to present Small Steps to Wellness, a free health fair with an emphasis on connecting small businesses to wellness services.

Small Steps to Wellness will take place from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in the lobby of the Owensboro Convention Center. The event will take place immediately following Rooster Booster. The event is free and open to the public, with an emphasis on health-related services and options that can assist small businesses and their employees.

The event will include the following:

• Health screenings (offered by Owensboro Health)

• Short educational presentations

• Experts and informational materials

Our Chamber wellness related members will be on hand to showcase their products or services, providing the opportunity to the Chamber membership and the public to learn about the latest trends and get valuable tips on healthy living.

We hope you take the opportunity to take advantage of these two back to back events. For more information you can visit our website at chamber.owensboro.com.
