Shop Owensboro and keep your money where your heart is

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Owensboro. We kicked it off last night in great form with one of the best Christmas parades that I can remember.

Next week we give thanks for all the blessings we have been given. Much of the media will be talking about Black Friday kicking off the retail season. But the Chamber of Commerce is working hard to make sure this is the best Small Business Saturday we have ever had in Owensboro.

This effort is being powered by Independence and an army of amazing small business people committed to raising awareness on why using local matters to all of us.

It does matter. Multiple studies show locally-owned restaurants return twice as much revenue to our local economy. Independent retailers return more than three times as much money than chain competitors.

Shopping Owensboro means investing in those who have invested in us. Our local businesses are owned by people who pay taxes here, who own homes here, who donate to charitable causes, who sponsor our kids’ and grandkids’ baseball teams. They also do business with us and volunteer their time. Their future and our future our tied together.

Visit us at Independence Bank locations on Frederica Street and Highway 54 from 9-10 a.m. We will have your Shop Owensboro maps and free reusable Shop Owensboro bags full of coupons and great deals. We will have competitions and great giveaways.

This year we have close to 50 participating businesses that are coming up with fun way to celebrate the day. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay in the loop.

So get up and out next Saturday, come see us at our Independence Bank Pop Up Chambers and commit to doing the majority of your shopping here. Keep your money where your heart is. SHOP OWENSBORO.
